Amber vs GloBird
What each sells your home, priced as a year’s bill
Priced for a typical 2-person home in NSW (5,237 kWh a year), used a bit of both, at Sydney 2000 on Ausgrid’s network.
Amber’s plans follow the wholesale market, so its figure is an estimate and isn’t set against fixed prices.
Supply and usage with GST, less guaranteed discounts, plus any membership fee. A sign-up credit counts in the first year only; a pay-on-time discount is shown below but not counted.
A year’s bill at every amount of use
Each retailer’s cheapest plan with a firm price at every amount of use from 1,000 to 12,000 kWh a year, used a bit of both; the dashed line is this home. Where the lines cross, the cheaper retailer changes: a plan with a low supply charge leads for a small home, a low usage rate for a big one.
As of 14 October 2026, for a typical two-person home in Sydney 2000 on Ausgrid’s network using 5,237 kWh a year, Amber’s plans follow the wholesale market, about $2,342 a year on its estimate, and GloBird’s cheapest is FULLHOUSE at $1,820 a year. Plans as each retailer files them with the Australian Energy Regulator, read nightly; prices include GST. Plans sold only through comparison sites, to members or to existing customers are left out. Each row says which figure is lower or higher; there’s no overall score. Confirm the plan’s Basic Plan Information Document with the retailer before you switch.
