A year’s bill at every amount of use
Each retailer’s cheapest plan with a firm price at every amount of use from 1,000 to 12,000 kWh a year, used a bit of both; the dashed line is this home. Where the lines cross, the cheaper retailer changes: a plan with a low supply charge leads for a small home, a low usage rate for a big one.
As of 14 October 2026, for a typical two-person home in Melbourne 3000 on CitiPower’s network using 4,840 kWh a year, Lumo’s cheapest is Lumo Plus at $1,328 a year, and Origin’s cheapest is Origin Go Variable at $1,561 a year. Plans as each retailer files them with the Australian Energy Regulator, read nightly; prices include GST. Plans sold only through comparison sites, to members or to existing customers are left out. Each row says which figure is lower or higher; there’s no overall score. Confirm the plan’s Basic Plan Information Document with the retailer before you switch.
