We show them, but we don't let them decide the headline. The price a month and your budget check use the price once the offer ends, since that is what you pay from then on. The first-year cost includes the offer any new customer can get, with a promo code named when one is needed, and we drop an offer once its sign-up date has passed. Discounts only for bundling a mobile or energy plan are noted on the plan, not priced.
The download and upload speed a provider says its customers typically get between 7pm and 11pm, the busiest hours. Every provider must publish it for every plan, and the ACCC requires it to be shown as prominently as any top speed. It is the speed we show on every plan. On fibre to the node or building, what you get also depends on your copper line, so providers often give a range.
It decides which speeds you can buy. Fibre to the premises (FTTP) and hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) can buy every speed up to 2 Gbps. Fibre to the node, curb or building (FTTN, FTTC, FTTB) top out at 100 Mbps. NBN is upgrading many copper connections to FTTP for free when the household orders a faster plan. NBN's own address check on its website tells you your connection and whether you can upgrade.
Every plan we compare is month to month. The modem is where a lock-in can hide: some providers include one free, some charge up front, and some add it to your bill for 24 months, with the rest to pay if you leave early. Tell us whether you need one and we add it to the first year and show what leaving early would cost.
NBN providers have no data feed: the Consumer Data Right for telco is paused. Plans are read from each provider's own plan page and checked against its Critical Information Summary and Key Facts Sheet, the documents every provider must publish for every plan. Prices change often, so confirm the offer on the provider's site before you sign up.
