BankMate doesn't hold an Australian financial services licence or an Australian credit licence, and isn't licensed to give financial product advice or credit assistance. Nothing on the site is tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to acquire, hold or dispose of any product. When you answer a questionnaire, the site filters and sorts products by the conditions you set, and its rankings and dollar figures are worked out from the figures you enter. It doesn't assess whether a product suits you.

Where the data comes from, and its limits

• Savings accounts, credit cards, home loans, term deposits and personal loans come from the providers' Consumer Data Right product feeds, read each night. Some figures a feed doesn't carry, such as some credit card sign-up bonuses, are read from the provider's own website.
• Superannuation comes from APRA's published performance and fee statistics.
• Share trading and crypto exchange fees have no regulated feed. We read them from each provider's pricing pages and check them by hand.

We work to keep this accurate, but providers change products without notice, feeds can be late or wrong, and we can make mistakes. We don't guarantee that any rate, fee, bonus or condition is accurate, complete or current. Confirm the details with the provider before you apply.

BankMate doesn't list every product on the market. It lists products a member of the public can apply for directly, and leaves out ones that need a broker, an invitation, a particular employer or a membership most people can't get. The methodology page sets out what is included and how each category is ranked.

Calculations and estimates

Many figures are worked out from what you tell us and from assumptions we state beside them. They include interest on your balance, loan repayments, a card's first-year value (which spreads your spend across typical categories), yearly trading costs, super fees at your balance, super projections, the savings split optimiser and the portfolio's comparisons. These are illustrations, not quotes or forecasts. Your actual outcome will differ with rate and fee changes, how you use the product, and the provider's own assessment of you. Figures we estimate rather than read from a provider are marked with “~” or “Estimate”.

Super projections use assumed returns for each investment mix, not any fund's past returns. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

Comparison rates

Comparison rates shown are the ones lenders publish, calculated on the standard examples in the National Credit Code: for a home loan, $150,000 over 25 years. WARNING: This comparison rate is true only for the examples given and may not include all fees and charges. Different terms, fees or other loan amounts might result in a different comparison rate.

Crypto and share trading

Crypto assets are volatile and can lose all their value, and most crypto exchanges aren't regulated the way banks are. Share and ETF prices go down as well as up. BankMate compares what platforms charge to buy. It says nothing about whether any investment is a good one.

Links to providers and referrals

“Go to site” links take you to the provider's own website, which has its own terms and privacy policy. We aren't responsible for other sites or for the products they offer, and any product you take out is an agreement between you and that provider.

BankMate may use referral links. If you open a product through one, the provider may pay BankMate a referral bonus or commission, and you may get a sign-up bonus of your own. Referrals never change where a product appears: every list is ordered by the figure you sort by, a product with a referral link sits exactly where it would without one, and there is no paid placement or sponsored ranking. BankMate records a sign-up offer only where it has a referral arrangement for it, so offers are shown with the product but never ranked. A “Go to site” button that leads to a referral link says so beside it.

Your account

You don't need an account to use BankMate. If you create one, you sign in with Google or with a one-time code sent to your email. Keep access to that email or Google account secure, because anyone who controls it can sign in as you. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

Notes, corrections and feedback

Notes you post appear publicly with your name and picture. Keep them to your own experience, and don't post anything that is false, misleading, abusive, defamatory, promotional or someone else's personal information, or that tells others what product to choose. We may edit or remove notes that break these rules.

You keep ownership of what you post, and you let us show it on BankMate. Corrections and feedback you send may be used to fix the data without further credit.

Using the site fairly

Don't use BankMate in a way that harms it or other people: no attempts to break in or get around its security, no automated traffic heavy enough to slow it down, and no pretending to be BankMate or presenting its figures as your own advice.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text, code and the BankMate name and mark belong to us. Provider names, logos and card images belong to their owners and are shown only to identify their products. Product data published under the Consumer Data Right and by APRA remains subject to its publishers' terms.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded. Subject to that, BankMate is provided as is, and we aren't liable for any loss or damage, including indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of the site or from relying on its information, including decisions made using its comparisons, calculations or projections.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using BankMate after that, the updated terms apply.
