What a rise doesn't change
- Bonus conditions. In a month the conditions aren’t met, most bonus accounts pay only their base rate, often under 1%.
- Intro rates. A bank can move its ongoing rate and leave its intro rate where it is, or close the offer.
- Term deposits already open. Their rate is fixed until they mature.
- Fixed-rate home loans. Their rate holds until the fixed term ends. New fixed rates follow lenders’ funding costs on their own clock, so they aren’t counted here.

- Data
- Each bank's and lender's Consumer Data Right (Open Banking) product feed, read every night. A reading is recorded when the published rate differs from the last one stored, so a move is dated the day it first showed in the feed.
- What counts
- A move in the Board's direction between the announcement (2:30pm AEST) and 28 April 2026, 6 weeks on. Savers: each account's first-tier rate with any bonus. Borrowers: the advertised variable rate for a new owner-occupier at 80% of the property's value, paying principal and interest. Our own corrections are never a move.
- Scope
- Banks and lenders with a product listed on BankMate and tracked before the announcement. Not financial advice. Methodology · Every decision
